Privacy policy

This page explains what personal information this website collects, what we do with it, and who to contact about it. This website is run by Portex Building System of Strathroy, Ontario. "We" and "us" on this page mean Portex Building System.

The short version

• We only collect what you type into the quote form, and only to answer your request.
• Your request is emailed to the company that runs this website for us, which shares it with us. The website does not keep a copy.
• We won't add you to a mailing list.
• The site sets no cookies for visitors and uses no analytics or tracking.

What the quote form collects

When you send a request from the Request a Quote page, we receive what you enter in these fields:

• Name
• Company (optional)
• Email
• Phone
• Project location
• Building type
• Approximate size (optional)
• Message

We don't ask for anything else, and you can browse the rest of the site without giving us any details.

What we do with it

The form sends your request by email to the company that runs this website for us, which shares it with us. We use it to answer you, by replying to the email address you gave or by calling the number you gave.

The website does not save your request in a database or anywhere else. Once it is sent, the only copies are the emails themselves: with us, with the company that runs this website for us, and with the email services that deliver and store the message.

We keep a quote request for up to 24 months after our last contact with you about it, then delete it. If the request becomes a building project, we keep it with that project's records for as long as we need them.

We don't sell your information or share it with anyone outside Portex Building System, apart from the company that runs this website for us, the email services that deliver and store the message, and the hosting service described below.

No mailing list

Sending a quote request does not sign you up for anything. We won't add you to a mailing list or send you marketing email. If we ever offer a newsletter, you will have to choose to join it.

Keeping out spam

To stop automated spam, the quote form:

• has a hidden field that people never see. If a program fills it in, the request is not sent.
• refuses too many requests from the same internet connection in a short time. To do this, our hosting service counts requests by IP address (the number that identifies your connection). The website's code doesn't save that count or your IP address.

Hosting

The site runs on Cloudflare, which also delivers the quote email. Like any web host, Cloudflare handles technical details of each visit, such as your IP address, your browser type and the page you asked for, to deliver the site and protect it from attacks. It does this under its own privacy policy.

The request logs we can see, which help us find and fix problems, are kept for a few days. They can include your IP address and the page you asked for. Anything else Cloudflare keeps is covered by its privacy policy above. The site's own code adds only short notes to them, such as "request sent" or an error code, and never what you typed into the form.

If your browser cannot connect to the site properly, it may send Cloudflare a short report about the failed connection (known as network error logging), so the problem can be found. The report goes to Cloudflare, not to us.

Cookies and analytics

The public website sets no cookies. It has no analytics, advertising or social media tracking, and loads nothing from other companies' servers: even the fonts come from this site. The only report that goes elsewhere is the failed-connection report to our hosting service, described above.

The only cookies are for the people who sign in to edit the site's content. They keep that person signed in.

If we add analytics or any other tracking later, we will update this page first and ask for your consent before any tracking cookie is set.
